I want to shift gears here for a minute and talk about the personal side of this business. The tactics and strategies can only take you so far.
I remember back when I got into real estate with no money and very little confidence. I was afraid of rejection! I was afraid of what could go wrong. I had amassed a great deal of knowledge from the books I’d read, but no practical application to fall back on.
I started on a dream and a hope that this would work. When I began, I was ending a relationship and basically without a place to live or money to move. I dove head first and hoped for the best! I had no idea what was going to happen.
So, I borrowed someone else’s money for a training seminar. It was the best investment I could have ever made. At the seminar, I was able to put together a deal and make $12,000. I wasn’t sure how, but I did. And from that moment on, I had successful people believing in me. There were times that I doubted if what I was doing was right, if I was getting in over my head!
And undoubtedly, I did things wrong and got in over my head more than once.
Fortunately, I found mentors. I found successful people that had done what I wanted to be doing. And because I had developed courage, they saw something in me and helped me through those rough times. I have since built great relationships with many mentors and mastermind groups over the years.
When I didn’t think I could do it, they did. When I wanted to give up, they wouldn’t let me. When I got frustrated, they put things in a different light. They were, and continue to be, here for me and cheering for my success. At times, I felt like I had to push just a little more because I didn’t want to let them down.
If you don’t have a mentor, find one. Find someone who has done what you want to do and is willing to teach you. Whatever the cost… It’s Worth It! 🙂
